Class Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you for our school, teachers and friends.

Thank  you for my family and my home.

Thank you for the beautiful flowers and plants in the world.

Help us to learn new things every day.

Help us to stay proud of our excellent school.

Fabulous Facts

These are the fabulous facts for this term - they contain the key information we will be learning through some of our Creative Curriculum subjects.

Important Information

Reading

Please read with your child regularly at home and sign their reading record when they have read, ideally a minimum of 3 times each week. It is really important that children have opportunities to discuss what they are reading and answer questions about the text.

Reading books need to be in school every day as we will read with children in class. Their books will be changed when they have read with an adult and demonstrated that they understand the text.

Spelling

Spellings will be tested each week on a Friday and new spellings will be given out. This will be supported by spelling lessons in class but it is important that children have additional time to practise their spellings at home. To help with this, each week there will be a spelling challenge which children can complete in their books - this is optional but will be helpful for the children.

Times Tables

Children should already be familiar with the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. In Year 3, we will continue to practise these and we will also introduce the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. It would be helpful if your child could spend some time at home practising these so that they can quickly and confidently recall their times tables. Hit The Button is a fantastic, free online game where children can practise answering questions - it works best on a tablet or mobile device.

PE

Our PE days are Mondays and Fridays. Children will need to have their PE kit (blue shorts, white polo-shirt and black pumps) in school so that they can change before the lesson.
